How everything started  .  .  .

2000

Theo Mayerle and Helmut Fritz play already for a long time in the Posaunenchor Geradstetten (church brass band). After a band practise in the summer 2000 Theo Mayerle tells to his music friend Helmut Fritz about a TV show with a Swiss alphorn group and says: "To play alphorn would make also fun for me, not also for you?”. After short consideration Helmut agrees enthusiastically. After a visit at the alphorn maker Hermann Koppenhoefer on the Welzheim Forest 2 alphorns are ordered immediately.

2001

In January the alphorns become finished and practising begins. Mrs. Sabine Schubert-Kessler, an outstanding alphorn player and concert pianist from Remshalden-Grunbach, joins repeatedly the practises and gives valuable advises.

2002

Susanne Brodt, she also plays for a long time in the Posaunenchor Geradstetten, can be motivated to start playing alphorn. Martin Dehlinger, a former church brass band and hunting horn player, joins as a further player. Now the alphorn quartet is complete.

2003

Foundation of the alphorn group "Remstalhorns". Since this time we practise on every Thursday evening on the winegrowing estate Mayerle located on the Bauersberger Hof in Remshalden-Geradstetten.

2007

In July René Greiner joins the group. He plays French horn since his 6th birthday. René plays in various orchestras and ensembles. He discovered his love to the Alphorn during his frequent holidays in Switzerland. 2004 he ordered a handcrafted alphorn at the Swiss alphorn maker Hans Rudi Bachmann. Finally in summer 2006 he could pick up the alphorn.

Sadly, we may play alphorn with 5 players only for a short time, as our appreciated Martin Dehlinger passes the way in September.

2017

Unfortunately, René Greiner leaves the group, since he no longer lives nearby Remshalden.

These are our goals  .  .  .

Our goal is it to please our listeners with harmonic alpine sounds. As amateurs we feel connected to the traditional alphorn play.
